My name is Shanna. I’m a professional and credited sound designer, composer, and recording engineer. I hold a degree in music composition and computer music from Columbia University (NYC). I’ve had a lifelong passion for creating, collecting and curating music across genres and media. My love for music composition comes from my drive to impact the way the world experiences music. Along with my music education, I've worked in behavioral neuroscience laboratories, with a personal interest of better understanding music’s impact on behavior and state of mind.
I thrive in creative and collaborative environments. I enjoy working closely and collaboratively
with directors and post-production teams to create a work that is emotionally compelling and cohesive. I want my sound and score to enhance the vision of the visual, while adhering to required formats and technical standards. I consider music to be an aspect of storytelling, regardless of whether a score is passively experienced, or at the forefront of a piece. One of my most loved parts of the scoring process is when I get to thoroughly explore the function and purpose of the music I will create with my teammates.

Outside of my commercial work, I enjoy experimenting with music composition and production. I also have a band, which you can listen to in the "songwriting" link on this website. I adore video-games, listening to sounds in the wild, and making personal short films. As long as I'm making something, big or small, I'm happy.
